This is part show case and part retrospective build log of my completed build of the Bandai Gundam HG 1/144 Murasame Kai gunpla model kit. It is also my second ever painted model kit and the second build of the year right after my Momo Haro Haropla!
Featured in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM, the kit was released in October 2024.
All photos were taken with a Sony A7III with the FE 24-105 F4 lens.
Build Overview
- General panel line deepening and new lines added for armor separation.
- Additional panel lines added to the shoulders, thigh armor, waist armor and arms.
- Painted with airbrush using the assembly manual colour scheme with Mr Color lacquer paints.
- Additional accent colors added to the rifle with Tamiya enamel paint.

Lessons learnt
- I should fill my scribing mistakes and re-scribe. I have the tools and material for that now.
- Plan the added panel lines with the waterslide decal placements in mind.
- For light pieces and clear coat. Do more layers to get even coverage and colour.
- Take some close up shots when doing photos and play with the light setup a bit more.
